If you feel, you were attached to Triss in the previous game, it will be a tough decision and it is good as it was designed to be by CDPR team. Also Yen is the mother figure of Ciri as Geralt is her father figure. She has 1 hour and a half more screentime than the red haired sorceress and it is fair as CDPR has two games to catch up with her. Yen and Geralt romance in TW3 is more flesh out and Yen is much more important in the story. So Yen is the canon romance and Triss is the alternative choice, still you can make her the endgame choice in TW3 so it is still up to you to make your choice. However, yes, Yen is the canon romance based on the what happened in the books and between the end of the books and the beginning of the games. Games are based on choices and let you build your own story but there is no canon set in stone in the games. The rose appears in TW3 and yes it is withered. In TW3 she is obviously sad of what happened at the end of TW2 and there is a little bit if bitterness. After the bath scene, Triss express that she is ready to travel the world with him to find Yen, so I doubt the breakup came from her. You can even let her in Nilfgaard cell and make the choice to not save her.
